Electrolysis is the oldest and only method recognised for ‘permanent’ hair removal and works on any hair type and hair colour.
Electrolysis was discovered by an American ophtamologist Dr. Charles Michel in 1875. Throughout the 1900s it further developed as a method for permanent hair removal, but also as a method used to safely remove unwanted skin blemishes.
Electrolysis treats each hair follicle individually with a very fine, disposable, sterile probe to permanently destroy the follicle’s ability to reproduce, thereby eradicating hair growth on completion of the course of treatment.
For successful and effective results, a regular course of treatments is needed and each hair follicle is treated individually. It is difficult to predict an exact number (or hours) of treatments needed as this depends on several factors and is individual, such as follicle density and skin/medical conditions. A tailored treatment plan will be discussed with you and reviewed regularly. It is not uncommon for people to have electrolysis treatments over a number of years, and sessions generally vary from 15 minutes to 1 or more hours, spaced 1 to 4 weeks or more apart.
